Invisalign® Info

Invisalign® straightens your teeth without wires and brackets, using a series of clear, customized, removable appliances called aligners. It’s virtually undetectable, which means hardly anyone will know that you’re straightening your teeth.

Clearly Different

The Invisalign® System combines advanced 3-D computer graphics technology with 100-year-old science of orthodontics. Invisalign® aligners are designed to move your teeth in small steps to the desired final position prescribed by your orthodontist. Each aligner is precisely calibrated and manufactured to fit your mouth at each stage of the treatment plan. Your first step is to visit our office to determine if Invisalign® is right for you. After sending precise treatment instructions, Invisalign® uses advanced computer technology to translate these instructions in a sequence of finely calibrated aligners — as few as 12 or as many as 48. Each aligner is worn for about two weeks and only taken out to eat, brush and floss. As you replace each aligner with the next, your teeth will begin to move gradually — week-by-week until the final alignment prescribed is attained. Then you'll be smiling like you never have before!

To ensure the best possible results, only an orthodontist who has been trained and certified by Align Technology can diagnose and treat using Invisalign®. Invisalign® is not intended for children and is not appropriate for every adult. Only an orthodontist can determine if this treatment is an effective option for you. Getting started with Invisalign

An initial examination is done, free of charge, to determine if Invisalign treatment is right for you. If it appears that Invisalign is an opton, we will take pictures, x-rays and impressions of your teeth (a fee may apply to these records) and verify that Invisalign will work for you. From those records a treatment plan will then be created to determine exactly how your teeth will be straightened. At the next appointment we will discuss the treatment plan in detail along with all of the different finance options.

Once your orthodontist has created a personalized treatment plan, your records will be sent to Invisalign, where customized aligners will be created using 3-D computer technology.

During your treatment, you will wear each set of aligners for about two weeks. Each set of aligners will gradually move your teeth closer and closer to the desired end result. Throughout treatment, we will arrange for regular check-up appointments about every six weeks to ensure that treatment is progressing as desired. As treatment nears completion, the doctorsl will design a retention plan to help you keep your beautiful smile for life!

Invisalign FAQ

What is Invisalign®?
The Invisalign system is the clear alternative to straightening your teeth. We utilize the most advanced 3-D computer imaging technology to create a 100% customized treatment plan to ensure you receive optimum results. This technology allows us to digitally view the initial position of your teeth and depict what the final desired position will look like. From there, a series of clear, plastic aligners are custom-made for your teeth. You will be instructed to wear each set of aligners for approximately two weeks before replacing them with a new set, until the desired position is reached.

What are the main benefits of Invisalign?
There are numerous benefits of Invisalign, but the primary reasons are:

  • They are virtually invisible. Hardly anyone will even notice you are undergoing orthodontic treatment allowing you to continue with your lifestyle and daily interactions with people without any interruptions.
  • They are removable giving you the flexibility to eat and drink what you want. This feature also allows you to maintain a better oral hygiene regimen as you brush and floss daily.
  • They do not irritate your mouth. Since there are no brackets or wires like traditional braces, Invisalign will not irritate your mouth. This also reduces your time in the doctor’s chair since there are no wires to adjust.
  • The Invisalign system allows you to see your final result before you even get started. The 3-D computer imaging technology is high-tech allowing you to see how beautiful your smile will look after treatment.

How long will treatment last?
Treatment time will vary depending on the severity of your individual case. The complexity of treatment will determine how many sets of aligners you will need. There may be anywhere between 12 and 60 sets of aligners prescribed to a patient. Each set will be worn about two weeks.

How often do I have to wear the aligners?
Invisalign will only work while you are wearing the aligners. Therefore, you should wear your aligners 24 hours a day, seven days a week, only removing them to eat, brush and floss your teeth.

How often must I see Dr. Patritto?
Dr. Patritto will schedule regular appointments – usually about once every four to six weeks. The goal of these visits are to ensure that your treatment is progressing as planned.

Will wearing Invisalign aligners affect my speech?
Like other orthodontic treatments, your speech may be temporarily affected when beginning Invisalign treatment. This should only last a day or two as your tongue adapts to having the aligners in your mouth.

Will treatment with Invisalign be painful?
Some slight discomfort may be present for the first few days of each stage of treatment. This is normal and only temporary. For most, the discomfort is described as a feeling of pressure. This shows that Invisalign is working as it is working hard to move your teeth into the desired position. Any discomfort associated with Invisalign treatment usually subsides after a couple of days.

I have had braces before, but my teeth have since shifted? Can Invisalign help?
Many of our Invisalign patients have undergone orthodontic treatment before and over time, their teeth have shifted. Usually, Invisalign can correct this problem.

Is Invisalign affordable?
We can provide all the benefits of Invisalign at the same cost as traditional braces. We offer a variety of flexible payment options to help make your treatment more affordable.

  • Patritto Orthodontics will work with your insurance company to ensure you receive your maximum benefits available to you.
  • We offer a 0% interest payment plan that only requires 1/3 down at the beginning of treatment and allows you to make equal monthly installments over the course of treatment.
  • Third party financing is available offering 0 down, 0% interest and low monthly payments.
  • A 6% (cash or check) or 4% (credit card) bookkeeping discount is available for patients who pay in full at the beginning of treatment.
